A new book, Lepton Dipole Moments contains review articles on magnetic, electric and transition dipole moments that are written by leading experts in the field. This book covers the topics discussed in the series of symposia Lepton Moments , which I have organized and run in 2003, 2006 and 2010.

B. Lee Roberts - Research Interests:

1. The search for a permanent electric dipole moment of the neutron at the Spallation Neutron Source in Oak Ridge.

2. Muon (g-2):  I was co-spokesman with Vernon Hughes for E821 at the Brookhaven AGS. Spires lists over 1500 citations to our physics papers from E821. We have proposed to move the storage ring to Fermilab and improve the total error by a factor of 4, to 0.14 ppm. Fermilab P989, David Hertzog and Lee Roberts Contactpersons.

3. MuLan:  The muon lifetime experiment at the Paul Scherrer Insitut.  We have recently reported an 11 ppm measurment of the muon lifetime, a midpoint in our effort to measure the muon lifetime to 1 ppm, and the weak coupling (Fermi) constant G_&mu to ~0.5 ppm.

Past Research:

1. The CPLEAR Experiment at CERN.  We used proton-antiproton annihilation to produce the strong eigenstates of the K⁰ meson at t = 0, and studied the CP-violating decays as a function of proper time (the technique later used at the B-factories with B-mesons).  We made the first direct observation of time-reversal violation by measuring the rates for the K⁰ &rarr K⁰ transition, and for K⁰&rarr K⁰. 

2. Radiative kaon capture and Hyperon Decays - E811 at Brookhaven.  The radiative capture of a kaon at rest on a proton was measured to gain information on the structure of the  &Lambda(1405) resonance, which is below threshold in the K^-p system. Also the weak radiative decays,  &Lambda→ n &gamma, and &Sigma⁺ →p &gamma were studied.
